Community Service

Activity DayThe Foothill Quilters Guild is deeply committed to giving back to the community. Throughout the year the Community Service committee host several Activity Days where Guild members gather to make various-sized quilts and other projects that are donated to local entities. Different projects are scheduled depending upon the greatest need at the time.

For those who prefer to work at home, the Community Service committee puts together ”kits” to be checked out at meetings, completed at home, and returned at a subsequent meeting.

community service Kit choices include:
Quilting: consisting of a quilt top, batting, backing, and binding. This provides a great opportunity to practice your machine quilting skills.
Quilt tops: these kits simply include material to be sewn into quilt tops.
Binding only: a quilt that is already quilted, and enough material for binding is provided to machine-quilt on.
Preemies: all material needed to make a preemie quilt is provided.
To-go bags: all fabric needed to make a 24"x36" cloth drawstring bag. (Social workers give them to children being removed from their homes so they can gather toys, clothing, etc., and they become the child's personal tote.)

Recipients of these donations include the Placer County Children’s Receiving Home, local retirement and nursing homes, TAPP (Teen Age Pregnancy Program), and various doctor’s offices where cancer is treated.
