Quilt show: entering the 2009 show
Let's go! Finish that binding. Attach that label. It's quilt show time again!
This year entry forms are due no later than February 9, 2009. Each quilt entered into the show must have its own entry form accompanied by a color photo of the quilt (a "work in progress" is acceptable) and a photo of yourself. All quilts must have an identifying label sewn on the back, lower right side and a 4-inch sleeve for hanging.
Judged Quilts
Ready for the critical eye? Here's your chance to have a professional quilt judge critique your work. All you need to do is complete the entry form, choose "entry to be judged" in the upper right hand box, and pay $8 per entry. All "judged" quilts must be hand delivered to Cabin Fever Quilt Shoppe, 826 Lincoln Way, Auburn, on Thursday, April 2, between 8 - 10 am.
Exhibited Quilts
All "exhibited" quilts must be hand delivered to the Armory Building at the Gold Country Fairgrounds on Friday, April 3, between 8 - 11 am.
Quilt Show Categories
Traditional
Based on traditional-style patterns.
Pieced
Piecing predominates over appliqué or other techniques in either amount or effect.
Appliqué
Appliqué predominates over piecing or other techniques in either amount or effect.
Pictoral
A quilt that represents a recognizable image of a person, place or thing, may be whole cloth, painted, appliqué, collage or any number of techniques.
Art
Extends beyond the traditional and innovative disciplines, using personal expression and originality in design, color or technique.
Miniatures
Miniatures are small versions of large quilts. All parts of the quilt should be in proportion. i.e. piecing, quilting, borders, and binding, and it should be no larger than 24” x 24”.
